Ships have been important to mankind throughout history, and we will study all manner and kinds of ships and the people who use them. Based on the Time-Life Series “The Seafarers,” this course will cover how ships have been built & those who have used them in explorations. Multiple videos and powerpoint presentations will be offered to present historical information in perhaps fulsome detail. We’ll talk about the Vikings, the Pirates, the Northwest Passage, the Explorers, and all the Warships--the Dreadnoughts, the Battles of Trafalgar & Jutland and the ships of the line. We’ll probe the clipper ships, windjammers, sea chanteys, whaling, yachts and container ships. Ahoy, Matey! Welcome Aboard!
