"Poets Out Loud" is a four-week course offering the opportunity to write and share poetry aloud, become familiar with performing techniques, and present work to the public via the Lunch and Learn program. Class sessions will include creative writing exercises, inspiring discussions, readings of modern poets, mini performances, an introduction to using “sound art” to augment words, and, most of all, the chance to share original work in a nurturing environment. The course is being facilitated by Tim Van Schmidt and Mark J. Rosoff, who will be drawing on their 25-year career as musicians and performance poets. Schmidt and Rosoff call their performing duo Opposite of Blink and have released nearly 100 videos of original music, art and poetry on YouTube and recently performed in Denver at the 35th Annual Poetry Rodeo. Participants are encouraged but not required to present their work. All poetry lovers are welcome! The Lunch and Learn program featuring work from the “Poets Out Loud” class will be on February 5, following the last class.
